Named after its location, Erie, Pennsylvania is the fourth largest city in the state with a population of 104,000.

Philadelphia, Pittsburgh an Allentown are the only Pennsylvania towns larger than Erie.

Erie has a great location, just 90 miles away from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo, and about three hours away from Niagara Falls.

Erie gets heavy annual snow falls but also experiences ice rain, fog and thunderstorms.

Its average of 88 inches of snow actually puts it at No. 13on the list for snowiest places in the US.

In 2009-2010, Erie got 91.4 inches with the first snowfall coming on Dec. 5.Its record low in January is about -28 degrees.

Because of these cold temperatures, it’s best for citizens of Erie, and other surrounding areas to be as prepared as possible for the bitter cold winter months.

If that’s the case in your situation, one way you can better prepare is by selecting the most affordable electricity rate and company.
