Electricity in Plano

by Donny on December 21, 2010

Plano’s population of about 273,611 makes it the ninth largest-city in the state of Texas, and the 69th largest city in the United States.

Plano serves as home to many corporations such as Rent-A-CenterDellHPJC PenneyFrito-LayDr PepperSnapple and more.

In 2005, CNN Money Magazine named Plano the best place to live in the Western United States, and a year later, it was the 11th best place to live in the entire country.

Settlers began moving to the area in the 1840s and eventually gave the town its name from the Spanish word “flat,” which referenced the land.

The population grew by more than 500 from 1873 to 1874.

A fired destroyed 63 buildings in Plana in 1872, but in efforts to rebuild the town, the Plano Independent School District was formed.

The town has served home to many professional athletes such as; Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman, Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin, former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Deion Sanders, and seven time Tour De France winner Lance Armstrong.

Plano citizens can take pride in that, but now they can also take pride in being able to choose their own affordable electricity company and rate.
