In La Porte, Texas, you can find some of the most unique pieces of history at the San Jacinto Monument and Battle Ship.

The Monument was dedicated to the “Heroes of the Battle of San Jacinto and all others who contributed to the independence of Texas,” and stands at 570-foot shaft and 70,300,000 pounds, and is topped by a 34-foot star to symbolize the Lone Star Republic.

It’s the tallest stone column structure in the world, 15 feet taller than the Washington Monument in our nation’s capital.

At the base of the monument, you can find the San Jacinto Museum.

The Monument also overlooks the famous San Jacinto Battleship, the U.S.S. Texas the country’s oldest surviving battleship.

Texas has a lot of rich history, and this includes the year 2001 when it became a deregulated state.

This allows residents of La Porte and other deregulated areas throughout the state to shop, compare, and choose the most affordable electric rates available in their area.

The City of La Porte is located just southeast of Houston and has a population of about 31,880.
