Affordable electricity in Reading, PA

by Donny on January 25, 2011

Reading’s population of about 81,000 makes it the fifth-largest city in Pennsylvania behind Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, and Erie.

It’s located in Berks County i the southeastern part of the state.

One thing Reading has been particularly known for is its Japanese-style pagoda which can be seen from anywhere in the city.

It was originally built in 1908 to be used as a hotel and a restaurant but never got used for that purpose. However, it still remains a major tourist attraction today.

The city was named after the Reading Railroad, which once transported coal around the state. The Reading Railroad is also one of the four railroad properties on the classic board game Monopoly.

Reading along with practically the whole state of Pennsylvania has been active in the coal industry, and other energy fields.

It was fairly recent that Pennsylvania joined a handful of other states to become deregulated. This means that citizens throughout different locations of the state have the right to choose the most affordable electricity rates and suppliers for their home or business.

If you’re in Reading or another deregulated area in the state, and are looking for residential electricity, just type your zip code into our compare box to begin shopping and comparing the providers and their rates.

If you’re wanting to sign up for commercial energy, or you have other energy related questions, feel free to give us a call anytime at 1-800-971-4020 and one of our consultants will be more than happy to give you hand with all of your electricity needs.

The city has also been nicknamed “The Pretzel City,” because it’s home to several pretzel bakeries.
