Affordable Energy in Baltimore

by Donny on February 17, 2011

Baltimore, Maryland is the most populous city in its state with about 637,418 residents within city limits and about 2.7 million people in the metropolitan area.

It’s also located about 40 miles northeast of Washington D.C.

Its location is just one thing that makes Baltimore a convenient place to live.

Something else that contributes to this convenience is the fact that Maryland is one of the few deregulated states in the country. This means that business owners in the state have the ability to shop and compare different rates offered by different providers and then choose the best deal for commercial business.

If you’re in the Baltimore area or another deregulated area, you have a choice in the matter. You don’t have to settle on a company based on your location, and it’s pointless to jump from one energy provider’s website to another when you can shop, compare and choose the most affordable electricity rates in your area.

Baltimore was founded on July 30, 1729 and was named after Lord Baltimore the first governor of the Colony of Maryland.
By the late 1700s, it became known as a granary for its sugar production, and it’s shipping and manufacturing center due to adding the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) which traveled throughout the Midwest.

The city also played a major role in the Revolutionary War and it served as a temporary capital for the United States from December 1776 to February 1777.
