TXU releases new iTheromostat

by Donny on March 22, 2012

Last June, TXU had iTheromostats recalled. The Dallas-based electricity company recently took another shot in releasing the apps for the iPhone and they believe this time there good to go. The Brighten (SM) iThermostat is programmable and gives customers the ability to control the temperature of their homes via PC or smartphone.

The release of the new app is beneficial to both TXU and its customers. It also offers a feature where it will automatically switch temperatures based on the outdoor weather, making it more comfortable for those inside at all times. Company representatives say customers will be able to save at least $360 with the iThermsotat.

It also comes with a TXU “MyEnergy” Dashboard which allows TXU electricity customers to personalize their view of their electricity consumption, and makes them away of what days, times and products are using the most energy. Customers can look at that to monitor and decrease energy usage for a lower bill.

TXU is the first energy company in Texas to offer customers access to their online accounts through a free iPhone and iPad app.

We currently do not offer service through TXU, but you can compare still compare their rates with ours. To get their rates simply visit their website or call a company representative.

Once you do this you can get our rates simply by typing your zip code into our compare box. Next, choose between a residential or commercial rate then click the compare button. For a long term-residential rate of more than six months, we suggest you select a fixed rate instead of a variable rate. This will make your electric bills more consistent and give you an idea of how much to expect to pay each month.

Making the Switch

by Donny on February 8, 2012

As more and more states become deregulated, more and more people are enjoying freedom of being able to switch electricity companies. However, because it’s a new concept for many people, some customers are afraid of that change.

It might be because they’re used to others choosing an electricity company for them or it could simply be they just don’t like things being changed and it’s something else customers have to worry about.

Choosing an electricity provider may require effort in doing research, but that effort could save a significant amount of money.

Ryan, a Reliant Energy customer in Houston said, “Doing all the work that switching energy companies comes with severe headaches, and there’s no way to know when things might change.”

A Pennsylvania customer said the process comes with getting a ton of mail which usually gets tossed to the side.

As true as the points are, if more people were willing to look past that and do the work, they could save hundreds of dollars over the course of the year.

Joe Cerenzia of First Energy Solutions said by switching to his company, customers can save about $428 over the course of a two-year deal.

One the great things about Affordable Electricity is we can help you switch electricity companies whiling taking out those pesky headaches. If you live in a deregulated area and you want to shop and compare some of the best rates near you, simply type your zip code into our compare box, select “commercial” or “residential” then click the compare button. If you are looking for a long-term residential plan, we suggest you choose a fixed rate over a variable rate because it will help your energy bills be more consistent from month-to-month.
